Terrafirma is delighted to announce the appointment of Lucy Oxer as Chief Data Officer

Lucy Oxer – Chief Data Officer, Terrafirma

Terrafirma is well-renowned in the UK Legal and Property sectors as ground experts, becoming the second largest provider of coal mining reports in England and Wales. We make it our mission to push the boundaries of what can be achieved with existing ground data and new emerging data, identifying a critical need for a better understanding of the ground beneath our feet.

Lucy joins Terrafirma to continue this mission, using her experience as a commercial and legal data expert, renowned for establishing commercial re-use of geospatial data in the UK in her previous role at Landmark Information Group. Lucy was the first to commercially unlock claims data from the insurance sector to support evidence-based solutions in both the environmental and conveyancing market and her career spans nearly 20 years within environmental, property and financial services.

Within Terrafirma Lucy acts as data commercial lead, sourcing the very latest data sources to enable the development of new and ground breaking products and ensure effective commercial outcomes for our clients, whilst also supporting data management to ensure we apply excellence to our internal data policies, audits, evaluation and processing.

Lucy commented:

“I’m delighted to be joining Terrafirma as Chief Data Officer. Data is a critical component of the Terrafirma products and services but it’s truth can only be seen through an expert lens. Terrafirma is the first of a new and disruptive generation who understands this and offers an exceptionally safe pair of expert hands in all things ‘ground’. I’m here to enable the team to develop solutions, without limit, by expanding data holdings and unlocking innovation in the supply chain.“

Terrafirma’s CEO and Founder, Tom Backhouse commented:

“This is a huge and exciting step for Terrafirma to welcome someone with Lucy’s unrivalled experience in unlocking the power and potential of geospatial data. Lucy can identify and secure data that would otherwise seem impossible to obtain and fits perfectly into our company attitude of innovating, challenging the status quo and breaking down the many barriers that inhibit positive disruption and change for good. Lucy represents an exciting addition to our existing expert team and together will enable us to transform perception of the ground through the convergence of geo-science, data and technology.”

Stay tuned as we have a series of very exciting announcements to make through our social media channels and website. The Terrafirma team have been working very hard over many months, culminating in a new service that will represent a step-change in our understanding of ground hazards in the UK.
