The Society of Licensed Conveyancers’ new Chairman elected

The Society of Licensed Conveyancers (The SLC) has welcomed Valerie (Val) Holmes as its newly-elected Chairman on 3rd October.

Val has been an active SLC Board Member since 2013 and has over 30 years’ experience in conveyancing working for large and small companies. Valerie founded Valerie Holmes Property Lawyer in 2007.

Val said:

“I’m delighted to have been appointed as the new SLC Chairman and relish the opportunity to continue the great work of Simon Law and the Board along with Mike Ockenden and his Secretariat team. I look forward to working with the Society’s Board and its Members to provide constructive responses to Government consultations, and to working together with the CLC and other legal bodies to make the conveyancing process easier for Conveyancers, which will ultimately also benefit the general public”.

Val has taken over from outgoing Chairman Simon Law who has chaired the Society since 2012.

Simon said:

“After 6 years as Chairman, the time has come for me to step aside, and I am delighted to hand over the reins to Val. I wish to thank all the board members, Mike and the Secretariat for all their hard work during those years. The last 6 years have seen a number of important changes within the conveyancing profession and I believe that we have been able to position the SLC as a major influencer in those changes. I am sure that Val will continue this work and be a fantastic Chairman. “

The Society would like to congratulate Val and thank Simon Law for his work and commitment in building and growing the Society to what it is today. Without Simon’s engagement and contribution the Society would not be in the strong position it is now.
