Terrafirma collaborate to finalise changes to the way coal-mining risk is handled within conveyancing

Terrafirma collaborate with Yorkshire’s brightest legal minds to finalise ground-breaking changes to the way coal-mining risk is handled within the conveyancing sector.

Eight months after Terrafirma became the first non-public body to be licensed to produce a CON29M, Terrafirma have hosted a ‘top secret’ roundtable at the Queens Hotel in Leeds with six of Yorkshire’s brightest legal minds to present and discuss how we can revolutionise the way in which property professionals deal with coal mining risk within a transaction.

We revealed our ground-breaking update to a report that has already changed the face of conveyancing in the UK. Listening to the common issues faced, regular questions asked by prospective purchases and even the rarer circumstances that appear when purchasing property in historically mined areas, we have been able to design our expert opinion to satisfy due diligence and support property purchase. Drawing on the experience from our diverse group of property professionals from Levi Solicitors, PM Property Lawyers, Chadwick Lawrence LLP, Angela Viney Conveyancing and Advantage Property Lawyers, we have listened to what you need, and we are going to deliver in a way you’ve never seen before.

Our effervescent CEO Tom Backhouse and Head of Business Development Rachael Hodge led an interactive presentation about the history of coal mining, and how it has been handled within the conveyancing process through the past 50 years, and what can be done to make this process better. The discussion was broad, including topics such as new build, existing development, increasing efficiencies, and improving cover across the board for law firms, their clients and lenders. The general consensus being that we can do much more to create a streamlined and efficient process, whilst still providing excellent levels of cover and expert interpretation.

We will be announcing our incredibly exciting update on Monday 18th March – climb on board with Terrafirma and help us change the game with collaborative innovation across the sector.
