Past winners success – Propertymark Qualifications Awards

Nominations are in full swing for the 2019 Propertymark Qualifications Awards, and Propertymark spoke to last year’s winners to hear what they’ve achieved since receiving their much-coveted award.

The Propertymark Qualifications Awards not only celebrate learners in the sector; they’re also a mark of quality and excellence in an individual, with winners going on to achieve further successes, soon after collecting their awards.

The 2018 winners shared their stories and delight about winning and Propertymark found out how their professional lives have changed since winning, and how even a nomination could change a colleague’s career for the better.

Nina Chambers was the Learner of the Year in 2018, having studied for her Propertymark Qualification Award in college. Her win came from achieving the criteria of showing a strong academic performance, benefitting from her studies by progressing her career and overcoming adversity and hardship whilst gaining her qualification. The hard work clearly paid off, as she has now been promoted to a Lettings Manager role at her place of work, aged just 19.

“…becoming a Manager has opened my work life to another great learning and working experience.” Nina said when we asked how her day-to-day job has changed since the awards.

The Employer Champion of the Year is awarded to a business director who invests not only in their own development, but in their staff’s as well. 2018’s winner was Lorraine Robb, of The Property Store, who won after an overwhelming amount of staff put her forward to win, citing her commitment to developing staff of all levels.

When we asked Lorraine, what winning this award meant for her, she responded, “It was one of the proudest moments of my career.”

But it isn’t just Lorraine that has benefitted from the award, as she described how the award “has given [her] company’s image a huge boost and energised our staff to achieve more as a team.”

For those who have just entered the property sector, but are already making great strides in their career, there’s a chance for them to win the Rising Star award, which was taken by Katie Vale, now of Knight Frank, last year.

Katie had juggled her studies alongside her career, in a sector she was completely new to, but had impressed her employers so much that they had put her forward for nomination. When we asked what winning meant for her, she said how “It meant a lot for me that my manager had nominated me for this award, whilst being new to the industry and company.”

Her success seems to only be growing too, as she says she is “now continuing to progress and grow my career in the lettings industry”, and we wish her the best of luck in all her future endeavours.

If you have a colleague or employee who deserves similar recognition, then you can nominate them today. Nominees will be invited to attend the awards ceremony on 23 October 2019 at the House of Lords, where they will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with industry leaders and even take home one of these prestigious awards.
