News-style programme looks at the industry initiatives leading the housing sector into the future

The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and ITN Productions Industry News have co-produced a news-style programme “The Future of Housing” exploring the challenges and triumphs of the housing sector today, hopes for the future and the partnerships making a real difference in a pandemic-informed world.

Coronavirus has brought into sharp focus the underlying challenges in the housing sector. Rising to some of the toughest challenges in its history “The Future of Housing” highlights how housing professionals are looking to improve housing for the future by working collaboratively to benefit those who are insecurely housed.

The programme showcases industry leading initiatives to develop affordable, aspirational housing solutions and deposit free purchasing, shines a light on safeguarding mental health in social housing and demonstrates how accelerated technology adoption has increased efficiencies within the sector.

Anchored by ITN Productions Industry News presenter, the programme will launch at Housing 2020 on 7 September 2020 and will form part of an extensive campaign featuring CIH members and professional partners.

Gavin Smart, Chief Executive of the CIH said:

“This year has presented some of the biggest challenges for our communities, and our sector, in a generation. And given the continuing impact of COVID-19, there are still many concerns and unanswered questions about the future.

“The Future of Housing builds on the success of our previous collaborations with ITN Productions and does a fantastic job of exploring and celebrating the amazing resilience and innovation that the housing sector has shown throughout this crisis. It’s a great example of how, across the sector, housing professionals and organisations have risen to meet these challenges and embraced the opportunities they have created.”

Elizabeth Fisher-Robins, Head of ITN Productions Industry News, said:

“We are delighted to be partnering with The Chartered Institute of Housing once more to create “The Future of Housing”. The programme will explore the immediate challenges faced by the industry, as well as the key initiatives taken by CIH and the leading organisations in the UK housing sector in order to build an ever more forward-thinking, resilient and sustainable housing future”.

The progamme features key industry interviews and news-style reports along with sponsored editorial profiles from the following leading organisations:
  • BPHA
