New deal marks new step in cloud adoption in the digital workplace for law firms

LONDON, UK – 10th February 2022: More law firms are set to consolidate remote and flexible working practices, after a leading acquirer unveiled plans for a new digital workplace to support its existing and future acquisitions.

MAPD Group has joined forces with cloud specialist Oosha, part of Access Legal, to give its firms the opportunity to onboard Oosha’s Virtual Desktop solution.

Oosha’s solution enables users to access critical data and applications securely from any device, whether they are in the office, at home or on the go. The aim of the solution is to improve legal practitioners’ experience of carrying out their day-to-day responsibilities in a hybrid working world, boosting productivity and removing unnecessary tasks like having to switch between secure virtual sessions to access Microsoft Teams for colleague or client calls.

Based in the northwest and acquiring nationwide, the MAPD Group completed its first acquisition of Jackson Lees Group (Jackson Lees & Broudie Jackson Canter) in March 2020, and its second acquisition of Myers & Co in June 2021.

Commenting on the new deal with Oosha, Joanna Kingston-Davies, COO at MAPD Group, said:

“The pandemic showed how crucial technology is, and we want to invest in the right tools to make our people’s roles easier.

“Working with Oosha means we’re able to develop a robust agile working policy beyond Covid-19, where people can work from home, without feeling like they are living at work. We want our people to be able to achieve a life balance, and having a positive experience at work is a crucial part of life. We firmly believe that when you put people first – empowering them to go the extra mile with good working practices – clients receive a great service.

“We chose Oosha following a tender process because they’re a really good fit for us, and quickly realised they’d be a seamless extension of our team. Oosha’s people-first approach aligns with that of MAPD Group, which stands for, Making a Positive Difference.”

Wolverhampton-based Oosha, which was acquired by Access Legal in 2021, was founded more than a decade ago and has become one of the UK’s leading cloud providers for the legal sector.

Oosha’s co-founder and managing director, Matt Newton, said:

“We are really pleased to be working with a forward-thinking company like MAPD. Firms within the group, like many of their counterparts in the legal sector, had found that the system they’d been running for years was no longer fit-for-purpose when their workforces moved to remote and hybrid working.

“By bringing everything together in a single digital workplace, staff can move seamlessly and securely between applications, including Microsoft Teams, which removes fragmented user experiences and IT-related frustration, and enables them to work effectively wherever they’re based.”
