May 2019 Price Paid Data from HM Land Registry

HM Land Registry has published its Price Paid Data for May 2019, showing the most expensive and the cheapest properties registered.

The most expensive residential sale taking place in May 2019 was of a flat in Kensington and Chelsea for £12,115,625.  The cheapest residential sales in May 2019 were of terraced properties in Peterlee and Shildon, Co. Durham for £18,000.

The most expensive commercial sale taking place in May 2019 was in City of Westminster for £74,000,000. The cheapest commercial sale in May 2019 was in Newport, Isle of Wight for £200.

Of the 85,667 sales received for registration 25,392 took place in May 2019 of which:

• 459 were of residential properties in England and Wales for £1 million and over;
• 266 were of residential properties in Greater London for £1 million and over;
• 1 were of residential properties in West Midlands for more than £1 million;
• 4 were of residential properties in Greater Manchester for more than £1 million; and
• There were no residential properties in Wales for more than £1 million.

This month’s Price Paid Data includes details of more than 85,500 sales of land and property in England and Wales that HM Land Registry received for registration in May 2019.

The number of sales received for registration by property type and month

Of the 85,667 sales received for registration in May 2019:

• 64,481 were freehold, a 3.9% increase on May 2018; and
• 12,423 were newly built, a 10% increase on May 2018.

In the dataset you can find the date of sale for each property, its full address and sale price, its category (residential or commercial) and type (detached, semi-detached, terraced, flat or maisonette and other), whether it is new build or not and whether it is freehold or leasehold.
