Landmark Information launches Landmark Planning for enhanced due diligence

Landmark Information – the leading provider of information to the UK property market – has introduced a newly enhanced Landmark Planning report, which uniquely provides boundary data on the majority of the UK’s large planning applications as polygons.

Property lawyers and homebuyers benefit from a visually clearer understanding of the extent or potential impact of larger planning applications, as part of the legal conveyancing process.

Landmark Planning provides details of all planning applications – from extensions to large developments – in addition to information on what land uses are being proposed for surrounding areas, alongside the Local Authority policies and constraints. It also includes key neighbourhood information such as housing, demographics, schools, local amenities and rights of way.

To help both conveyancer and client, all the data within the Landmark Planning report is supported by easy-to-understand guidance and next steps, and replaces the need to rely on manual searching on local authority portals or on single mapped points of view, which don’t provide a complete view on the total area in question.

Chris Loaring, managing director for Landmark Legal, said:

“With a commitment from Government to deliver new homes and revitalise town centres across the country, as well as allowing existing property to benefit from extended permitted development, it is increasingly important for property conveyancers and homebuyers to have access to the latest planning information for a fully transparent transaction.

“As part of a solicitor’s due diligence, ordering a Landmark Planning report demonstrates that all practical steps have been taken to reasonably identify information that the client would want to know. Homebuyers have a right to understand any impact, positive or negative, that a nearby development may have before they commit to a purchase, and Landmark Planning provides the transparency on the extent of nearby developments.”

For many years, Landmark has provided planning application information for residential conveyancing through Plansearch and Plansearch Plus reports.  By launching Landmark Planning, it takes the best of both reports and includes enhanced polygon data tools for large planning applications and unrivalled data accuracy.
