Industry experts to reveal the ins and outs of conveyancing risk and legislations

Geodesys – part of Anglian Water and a leading provider of conveyancing searches for residential and commercial properties throughout England and Wales – is announcing its first Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminar of the year.

The event will focus on the threats modern conveyancers are exposed to and the best tools they can employ to remain compliant.

The complimentary seminar will take place on 26th February, from 9am to 1pm at the Hylands Estate in Chelmsford, with lunch provided at the end of the session. Industry-leading experts will be on hand to run the seminar including Kate Faulkner, one of the UK’s leading property experts. Participants will benefit from insight into three main issues for conveyancers, including anti-money laundering, drainage and water (CON29DW) and the regional and national housing market.

Kay Toon, Client Account Executive at Geodesys, commented:

“We’ve been involved in providing CPD opportunities for conveyancers for over 10 years and we work hard to ensure we use the feedback we are given to make our events relevant and engaging every time. Our experience has shown that there is immense value in getting conveyancing professionals together for a morning of knowledge-sharing and networking and I would encourage everyone in the Chelmsford area to join us.”

Kate Faulkner has become a known brand on the UK property scene, establishing herself as a veritable expert in the industry and starting her own venture called Designs on Property. A regular on the BBC, ITV and ITN, Kate will provide her analysis and insight into the regional and national housing market.

Providing a preview into her session, Kate commented:

“With Brexit being ‘accused’ of slowing the market on a national basis, the latest data from the Land Registry shows that Chelmsford and Essex in general is slowing, but prices at least, appear to continue to move forward. Prices in England were averaging £247,430 in November, which was 27% higher than the height of the market prior to the credit crunch and 2.6% higher than 2017.”

Kate continued:

“For Essex, the average price is higher at just over £315,000 and they performed better than the national average, growing by 44% over the last 12 years and rising at 2.1% versus the previous year. Chelmsford though has performed even better with an average price of just over £338,000, prices rose by 44% over the last 12 years and continue to show growth of 3.8% year on year. It is likely that Brexit will hit volumes for the start of 2019, however, hopefully if a deal is struck, prices and volumes will quickly recover, especially if rates remain at their historic low.

Jonny Davey, Product Manager at Geodesys will detail how the CON29DW looks at the drainage and water issues that affect homeowners and the ways in which it could influence future development. With the new Anti-Money Laundering Directive in full swing in 2019, Jonny will also discuss everything conveyancers need to know about the regulation and use tangible examples to ensure participants know what is needed in order to be fully compliant.
