Legal Services Board announces two new Board members

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and the Legal Services Board (LSB) today announced the appointment of Stephen Gowland and Flora Page as non-lay members of the LSB.

Stephen Gowland and Flora Page are being appointed for four-year terms commencing from 1 August 2020.

The appointments were made by the Lord Chancellor in consultation with the Lord Chief Justice, in accordance with the Legal Services Act 2007.

David Eveleigh will step down as a non-lay member of the Board on 31 July 2020 at the end of his second term of office.  David has been a Board member for six years.

The LSB’s Chair Dr Helen Phillips said:

“I am delighted to welcome Stephen and Flora to the Board.  They have a real breadth of legal experience which will be essential as we continue to develop our new strategy for legal services regulation over the coming months.

“I’d like to also formally thank on behalf of the Board David Eveleigh who has contributed significant time and energy to furthering our ambitions to reshape legal services to better meet the needs of society. As a Board, we wish David all the very best with his future endeavours”

The MoJ and the LSB have also announced the extension to Marina Gibbs’ tenure as a lay member of the LSB until 31 March 2021 while a recruitment campaign is undertaken to identify a new lay member.
