Mr Smith set up the business with his father Alick in 1989 and has transformed it into one of the top performing property services businesses in the UK, with a £140m turnover.

John Phillips is currently responsible for Just Mortgages which he has grown from 100 brokers to 650 since he joined the company in 2015. He also runs surveyor, Valunation, Spicerhaart Corporate Sales and Spicerhaart Part Exchange. On announcing the new appointments Paul Smith said:

“This strategic decision marks a new era of leadership and reflects our continuing commitment to growth, innovation and digital transformation.

“Both Antony and John have a proven track record and complementary skills and they are the ideal candidates to lead our company.”

In the past eight years John Phillips has launched a number of new services into Just Mortgages, introducing self-employed mortgage advisers and a new client services division to ensure every client is contacted at least annually. He has also established a new build arm and set up Just Wealth, incorporating wealth management, pensions and investments to ensure that the company can look after ever part of a client’s financial needs.

Just Mortgages now has over 650 advisers, with a back-up team of 75 trainers, compliance and administration staff.
