Meet your new NAEA Propertymark presidential team

Our new NAEA Propertymark presidential team were welcomed aboard at the Propertymark AGM this morning (Friday 15th June 2018).

Accomplished agent and Propertymark board member Mark Bentley has been sworn in as President of NAEA Propertmark, succeeding Katie Griffin.

A highly skilled property professional in his own right, Mark’s career spans 41 years and he has amassed a wealth of experience across the breadth of the industry. After ten years at General Accident Property Services, Mark joined Birmingham agency Paul Carr where he has been a director for the past 22 years.

Mark said:

“Over the next 12 months I am looking forward to meeting and talking to members from up and down the country, listening to them, hearing about their businesses, offering advice and reminding them of all the help and support that is available from NAEA Propertymark. I will be encouraging members to be the best property professionals they can be and stressing to non-members I meet that if they want to be a great estate agent, they need to be part of the go to organization for estate agents, NAEA Propertymark.

“I am also looking forward to working with the Propertymark board in encouraging the government to move forward with their indicated intention to look to regulate the sector and to find a way to speed up the house buying and selling process.”

President elect, Lauren Scott

Owner and Director of Trading Places, Lauren Scott, has moved in to the role of President Elect. Many of you will already be familiar with Lauren as she has been a Regional Executive for the North of England since 2014, and acting Propertymark board member since 2015.

Lauren set up Newcastle estate agent Trading Places when she was just 23 years old, creating one of the city’s best-known property businesses.

Meet Ian Westerling

Humberts Managing Director, Ian Westerling, was announced as the newest member of the presidential team, taking on the role of NAEA Propertymark Vice President, as voted for by you in the members vote. Ian will assume the post of Vice President before moving up to President Elect next year and the role of President in 2020.

A property professional for over 30 years, Ian is no stranger to the industry. Having started out as a junior negotiator in the 1980’s, Ian has been passionate about property ever since. During his career he has taken on pretty much every role you can imagine, including Land & New Homes and working at a senior level with firms such Brown & Merry, Hamptons International and Chesterton Humberts.

NAEA Propertymark Chief Executive, Mark Hayward, commented:

“This time of year is tinged with sadness and heightened anticipation, as we say goodbye to last year’s President, and welcome in a new one. Katie has had an incredible year, engaged with members in every corner of the country and listened and assisted wherever she can. The anticipation is that centred around a new President and his team. Lifelong agent Mark brings a wealth of experience and a passion for best practice, and a proud commitment to the role, whilst Lauren and Ian stand shoulder to shoulder in supporting his endeavours.”

Following this evenings fabulous celebratory event at the Savoy, London for the President’s Dinner, we look forward to the year ahead and can’t wait for Mark, Lauren and Ian to get stuck in to their new roles.
