The plans for the Clapham Park regeneration have been approved
Developer Metropolitan’s £1.6 billion plans for over 2,500 new homes and community facilities at Clapham Park have been approved by the London Borough of Lambeth’s planning committee.
The revised plan for Clapham Park have been designed by architects at PRP.
Situated between Clapham, Brixton and Streatham Hill, the masterplans objective is to produce a vibrant, inclusive series of neighbourhoods with safe, secure streets, ample public and private green space.
To meet both Lambeth’s, and London’s housing requirements the development is anticipated to offer a wide range of housing types and tenures.
53% of the total 2,532 homes will be deemed as affordable.
Dual-aspect dwellings have been “maximized”, and 10% of homes will be adjustable for wheelchairs.
Using traditional, and modern approaches to construction, PRP has said the project has been “optimized” with delivery taken into consideration, using a combination of standardized parts, maximizing efficiency and options.
The quantity of homes produced has “significantly” increased using this method, as well as doubling the affordable homes provision.
Additionally, included into the development are:
- communal gardens,
- play areas,
- jogging routes,
- an outdoor gym.
The design of the development aims to inspire cycling and walking.
The design director at PRP, Richard Harvey, said:

This ensures optimum construction delivery, design efficiency and flexibility that guarantees the estate’s future longevity and ultimately benefits the local community for years to come.”
