Osprey Approach: Why compliance programmes fail and how to ensure success
Osprey Approach announces its latest podcast episode in the Empowering Law Firm Leaders series, looking at compliance programmes.
Osprey Approach announces that the latest episode in its podcast, Empowering Law Firm Leaders, is now available to watch and listen for free on YouTube, Spotify, and Amazon Music.
In this latest conversation, Amy Bell, founder of Teal Compliance, who’s a non-practising solicitor and chair of The Law Society’s Money Laundering Task Force, provides valuable insight on why many compliance programmes fail and the best procedures to adopt to ensure success.
In the eighth episode in conversation with Amy Bruce, head of marketing at Osprey Approach, Amy Bell shares her experience and best practices for creating a firm-wide culture of compliance, how to be a successful COLP or COFA, and how to avoid increasingly hefty SRA fines.
As well as outlining the top three compliance rules Amy believes every firm should follow, the conversation also covers why many compliance programmes fail and the positive impact that technology can have on risk management.
Amy also shares her framework for creating effective compliance programmes, which is known as Teal’s Six Cs of Compliance.
She believes that the biggest of the Cs is culture:
“You can do the other five Cs, but if you haven’t got a culture that supports compliance, your investment in those other five steps will be wasted.”
Watch the full interview with Amy Bell now to discover more advice and guidance on cultivating a resilient compliance culture in SME law firms to mitigate risk. Amy also shares exclusive advice on how to avoid AML fines from the SRA.
Osprey’s Empowering Law Firm Leaders interview series follows the success of its Build Better Habits webinars and takes a critical look at the key topics that will empower legal leaders and teams to help make running a law firm easier.
Over the coming weeks, Amy Bruce will be joined by Kirsty Pappin, winner of Practice Manager of the Year, Chris Bull, consultant at Edge International, James Markham and Darren Mee, authors of The Legal MBA, and Lindsey Kidd, Managing Director at HM3 Legal.
