Superman Sam caught by the Kryptonite cold on his way to helping Kids with Cancer!
Solicitor Sam Hawking has had to withdraw from the Arctic challenge in Sweden, after being a front runner out of 75 challengers in the 500km self-survival challenge. The arctic cold and sub-zero temperatures led to frostbite in the right thumb, despite three pairs of gloves, with the Rudolf Fines of the conveyancing world being forced to withdraw from the challenge in order to avoid the potential for amputation.
Sam is in good spirits, despite having also mislaid his passport in the snow on his adventure and is on his way home to Wales ahead of the National Conveyancing Awards next Thursday.
Sam’s challenge to raise much needed funds for the Kids Cancer Charity, which supports children and their families through their challenging journey, is going well but needs your support please. The aim is to raise over £20k, with the fundraising having already reached over £12k. Those making donations through the link below will be entered into the Conveyancing Foundation Charity Lotto with an opportunity to win £500 in the monthly prize draw.
Sam commented: “I am devastated to have had to withdraw from the challenge after having trained so hard and put myself in a position to win the challenge within the record-breaking time that I had hoped for. My apologies to everyone and a massive thank you to everyone that has supported me and the Kids Cancer Charity on our journey. Thank you all for your wonderful support and donations! I will be back!!”
