SLC issues Climate Change Client Guide
Professional body issues latest guide to add to existing library of 40 guides.
The Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) which is the professional body for Licensed Conveyancers has issued a new client guide on the effect of climate change which helps to point clients in the right direction for getting information and expert advice on the subject. The guide is available for members to use alongside the other 40 guides which cover subjects as varied as the Building Safety Act, e-signatures, Japanese Knotweed and SDLT amongst others. Many of the guides are designed to help clients understand the conveyancing process itself and provide a much greater understanding of the work that conveyancers undertake on their behalf.
Simon Law, Chairperson of the SLC commented:
‘Recent research has confirmed what we have known for many years, that clients generally do not understand the conveyancing process and the ever expanding demands placed on conveyancers acting on their behalf. It is why the SLC commissioned the production of a series of client guides which have built up over recent years to help inform and educate clients on the many different aspects of buying and selling a home. There is no doubt that the guides have had a positive impact on the home buying and selling process.’
In order that the guides are available to as many lawyers as possible involved in the conveyancing process, SLC opened its membership to non-licensed conveyancers by way of an Associate membership category and many solicitors and legal executives have joined the Society to gain access to the guides, as well as the many other benefits of membership.
