The January 2020 Price Paid Data tracks details of land and property in England and Wales that HM Land Registry received for registration in January 2020.
This month’s Price Paid Data includes details of more than 95,500 sales of land and property in England and Wales that HM Land Registry received for registration in January 2020.
In January 2020:
- the most expensive residential property sold was in Barnet for £23,500,000
- the cheapest residential property sold was in Burnley for £18,000
- the most expensive commercial sale was in Leatherhead for £40,000,000
- the cheapest commercial sale was in Haringey for £100
- there was a 26.4% fall in newbuilds compared with January 2019
Of the 95,982 sales received for registration 20,517 took place in January 2020 of which:
- 440 were of residential properties in England and Wales for more than £1 million
- 259 were of residential properties in Greater London for more than £1 million
- 2 were of residential properties in West Midlands for more than £1 million
The number of sales received for registration by property type and month
Of the 95,982 sales received for registration in January 2020:
- 73,266 were freehold, a 0.9% decrease on January 2019
- 12,841 were newly built, a 26.4% decrease on January 2019

In the dataset you can find the date of sale for each property, its full address and sale price, its category (residential or commercial) and type (detached, semi-detached, terraced, flat or maisonette and other), whether or not it is new build and whether it is freehold or leasehold.
