Expert discusses trends in conveyancing search terms for National Conveyancing Week
An expert from Conscious Solutions discusses the trends in conveyancing search terms for National Conveyancing Week.
Dan Hodges, part of leading digital marketing agency for law firms, Conscious Solutions, has found that, since 2008, there has been an increase in searches for the term ‘conveyancer’, with a sharp increase in May 2020.
So, what does this mean for the conveyancing industry? As proud sponsors of National Conveyancing Week, Conscious Solutions decided to dive into what the search term popularity could mean for the industry and what conveyancing firms should be focusing on.
Dan Hodges, Head of Account Management at Conscious Solutions, used Google Trends to find out what search terms are trending in the conveyancing industry and how search terms have changed over time. The results show a steady increase in searches for “conveyancer” since 2008:
The data also shows more searches since May 2020, which fits with the change in lifestyle the pandemic brought due to death, debt, divorce, and downsizing. The property market has seen record-high numbers of people moving house due to homeworking, allowing people to move away from commuter belts and seeking additional rooms for home offices and studies.
In looking at these statistics, it is important to consider the search intent of these keywords. When people search for “conveyancing” over “conveyancing solicitor” they might be looking for something more specific, such as the definition of conveyancing, or what conveyancing entails. This is reflected in the definition-style articles that show up on google when you type this in.
In fact, by comparison, searches for “conveyancing solicitor” have been steadier since 2008 (see the red line below). Someone who searches for “conveyancing solicitor” is more likely to be looking for a solicitor, which could explain the differences in number of searches.
Ultimately, though, these figures demonstrate an element of continued, or even increasing, interest by people in conveyancing, showing it is in the public consciousness. This means providing conveyancers with the resources, skills and care they need to do a good job is important.
Other search terms of interest identified using leading SEO tool, Ahrefs, include “how to find a good conveyancing solicitor” which is searched on average, 70 times a month. This suggests the paramount importance of treating your conveyancers with respect and care, and bringing to light the struggles the industry faces to provide better working conditions for conveyancers, and therefore service for clients.
What do the search terms mean for conveyancing firms?
-
- There should be a focus on the training provided to conveyancers to ensure they are doing a proficient job that clients are happy with.
- They should showcase their conveyancers and their achievements on the firm’s websites, social media, and other marketing collateral.
- Firms should prioritise conveyancers’ mental health and work-life balance.
The definition of conveyancer/conveyancing solicitor, and the queries above, are ideal to answer on your website to show expertise in the field, and to appear in searches related to these terms.
Digital marketing expert from Conscious Solutions, Dan Hodges, said:
“The data shows that, even during difficult economic situations, conveyancers and conveyancing solicitors are still receiving a lot of interest in the search engines, meaning qualified, motivated, and well-treated conveyancing solicitors are key to law firms.
“Events such as National Conveyancing Week are a great way for law firm employers to learn more about how to support their staff, and those looking to purchase houses to understand the process, which both help conveyancers to have a better work-life balance.”
