Dutton Gregory Solicitors wins the Residential Property Team of the Year at the LEAP Modern Law Conveyancing Awards 2023.
National law firm Dutton Gregory Solicitors has won ‘Residential Property Team of the Year’ at this year’s LEAP Modern Law Conveyancing Awards. The award ceremony, which took place on the 16 November at The Rum Warehouse in Liverpool, celebrated excellence in modern law and conveyancing.
Established over 75 years ago, Dutton Gregory Solicitors is a full-service law firm for private and corporate clients. The residential property team operates across England and Wales, handling £1.7billion-worth of residential property during 2022.
The entry highlighted the team’s continuous drive for improvement, as well as assessing and identifying opportunities to enhance their offering for clients by mapping out new and innovative key processes and challenging the status quo.
The judges recognised how the team have adopted a progressive approach towards technology, and that the flexibility toward the investment in systems and staff has facilitated Dutton Gregory’s ability to deliver their excellent client-facing service.
The judges also commended the investment in staff and the clear progression and training that is provided, enforced by employee testimonials who highlighted the ‘people-led’ nature of the firm. One-to-one training, support, regular courses, and experience within different departments, are offered and tailored to each individual. Employees have cited they are actively encouraged and given the confidence to take responsibility for their own and new client work.
Paul Sams, Head of Property at Dutton Gregory, said:
“We are incredibly proud to have won the prestigious accolade of Residential Property Team of the Year, and for the efforts of our department to be recognised and celebrated.
“The past year has been pivotal for the firm, and especially the residential property team, as we have expanded into the north with an office in Liverpool, and merged with a Surrey based law firm, Mackrell Turner Garrett.
“With an increasing presence across the South and now in the North West, it’s fantastic to be recognised for our passion and commitment to supporting our clients existing and new across the country.”
The Hampshire-headquartered practice has offices in Bournemouth, Chandler’s Ford, Poole, London, Winchester, and Woking, with a recently opened office and dedicated property team in Liverpool. There are currently 50 experienced legal professionals in the residential property team, which has doubled in the past 18 months.
Specialisms include sales/purchases, freehold and leasehold, remortgaging and equity release, transfers of equity, lease extensions, buy to let, and shared ownership. Shared ownership is a key specialism, which many competing law firms cannot provide. Support is provided to UK social housing providers, as well as tenants/buyers. The inclusive approach to this technical specialism helps to inform those who require guidance to get onto the ladder, or staircase up the ownership proportion of their home.
Three of Dutton Gregory’s property team have recently authored specialist books, including: A Practical Guide to Shared Ownership, A Practical Guide to New Build Conveyancing, and A Practical Guide to The Law of Enfranchisement and Lease Extension. These titles have been recommended as essential guides for property professionals. The team regularly lead seminars for other property lawyers, including presentations on MBL’s website and FORMedia.
Dutton Gregory has outperformed its rivals this year, gained significant market share, and has improved upon its 2022 business performance.
