Compass appoints Lidia Quinlan as Director

Compass has announced the appointment of Lidia Quinlan as a Director, reflecting the company’s continued growth and its expanding role within the UK property land tax sector.

Lidia will continue in her role as Head of Sales, with the appointment recognising her strategic contribution to the business.

Demand for Compass’s SDLT services has continued to grow as law firms reassess their appetite for risk, driven not only by regulatory change but by the growing complexity and financial exposure associated with SDLT. Firms are increasingly unwilling to retain responsibility for high-risk tax decisions where specialist expertise and indemnification can be outsourced.

In her expanded role, Lidia will continue to lead sales while supporting wider commercial strategy, partnerships and Compass’s long-term positioning as firms move towards more robust and defensible SDLT processes.

Commenting on her appointment, Lidia Quinlan, Director and Head of Sales at Compass, said:

“Regardless of the forthcoming HMRC tax adviser registration regime, we are already seeing a clear shift in how firms view SDLT risk. Law firms are increasingly unwilling to take on unnecessary exposure in an area that is complex, fast-moving and carries real financial consequences when something goes wrong.

The HMRC changes simply accelerate that conversation. We believe Compass is the only solution that fully addresses the issue by acting as the submitting tax agent, rather than leaving firms exposed. Our role is to remove SDLT risk altogether, not just help firms manage it, and our flat fee, no subscription model achieves exactly that.

Ryan Hannah, Managing Director of Compass, added:

“Lidia’s appointment reflects the role she already plays within Compass. She has been instrumental in the company’s growth and in shaping how we respond to a market that is becoming increasingly risk-aware.”

Compass is entering a pivotal period. Firms are preparing for the HMRC tax adviser registration regime, but more importantly they are reassessing whether SDLT risk belongs within a conveyancing practice at all. Lidia’s insight into those challenges, combined with her ability to translate them into practical, technology-led solutions, makes her a key part of Compass’s future.”

Compass provides specialist SDLT services to property professionals, including fully outsourced SDLT submission, indemnified calculations and expert-led assessments. Its technology roadmap is focused on scalable automation, API-driven integrations and AI-supported analysis, enabling Compass to integrate seamlessly with third-party platforms and evolving conveyancing workflows.
