Lawyer Checker Collaborates with Expert Conveyancing Search Provider
Lawyer Checker has joined forces with Searches UK, a property search specialist provider to law firms, to host an exclusive and informative webinar on the threat of cyber-crime and fraud.
Protecting your law firm from the risk of cyber attacks should be top of your agenda. According to HM Government there are around 1400 criminal organisations who are actively targeting the legal sector at this very moment, preying on out of date or inadequate methods of defence against cyber-attacks.
Exclusive risk management solution provider, Lawyer Checker, who is best known for its conveyancing risk tool Account & Entity Screen, which verifies the legitimacy of the law firm on the other side of the transaction, has partnered with Searches UK to enlighten law firms on the ever-growing threat of cyber-crime and fraud.
Why is it relevant to conveyancers/law firms?
From the 1st May this year, there has been changes to the Conveyancing Quality Scheme and Lexcel Accreditations, which require firms to take a more structured approach to cyber risk. Furthermore, 60% of law firms reported a security incident in 2018, plus the Solicitors Regulation Authority issued 237 scam alerts in the same year, followed by the West Midlands Police Cyber Crime Unit revealing that £11m of client money was compromised too.
Key Relationship Manager, Emma Baddaley from Lawyer Checker will discuss the ever-growing risk of cyber-crime and fraud and offer practical advice to firms on how to minimise the risk of cyber-attacks.
