Conveyancing wellbeing – still work to do but conveyancers happiest for years!!
Conveyancing wellbeing – We have some work to do but conveyancers are the happiest they have been for years!!
The Conveyancing Foundation was established over ten years ago to enhance the lives and wellbeing of those in the conveyancing industry as well as facilitating charity fundraising.
The Foundation’s Wellbeing at Work Survey in March 2023 was answered by over 500 recipients, with over 80% being practising Conveyancers. The survey asked 26 questions on mental health, the causes of stress and the support mechanisms available within legal practices. The survey also focussed on the importance of work and industry relationships and what could be done to enhance our working environments.
Chairman of the Conveyancing Foundation, Lloyd Davies, will be a Keynote speaker at the Bold Legal Group conference on the 21st June in London where the survey results will be revealed for the first time and the proposals for improvements to improve staff wellbeing and retention will be discussed.
Lloyd Davies commented on the survey results as follows:
“It was pleasing to see that the mental health and wellbeing of Conveyancers is the best it has been for some time, after a tumultuous few years for our industry.
“Many conveyancing practices have embraced staff wellbeing initiatives and those working in hybrid working environments are clearly much happier than those that are made to attend the office every day.
“It is clear that we have some way to go in terms of wellbeing initiatives, with those working in auxiliary conveyancing support businesses much more likely to have access to mental health wellbeing support than those working in legal practices, despite these roles not being as stressful.
“The survey not only benchmarked what is available in terms of current working environments but also highlighted what was important to those working in the industry.
“I look forward to addressing and discussing these issues at the Bold Legal Group conference in June, with follow up webinars to define wellbeing best practice in the autumn.”
The next Conveyancing Foundation survey this autumn will focus on Capacities and How Conveyancers Work, with a view to establishing the most effective working systems and environments for Conveyancers.
