HM Land Registry publishes the House Price Index data for March 2023

HM Land Registry publishes the House Price Index data for March 2023, covering the house prices changes across the UK.

The March data shows:
    • on average, house prices have fallen by 1.2% since February 2023
    • there has been an annual price rise of 4.1% which makes the average property in the UK valued at £285,009.
    • In England, house prices fell 1.5% between February 2023 and March 2023 and rose 4.1% annually taking the average property value to £304,193
    • In London, house prices fell 1.7% between February 2023 and March 2023 and rose 1.5% annually taking the average property value to £523,325
    • In Wales, house prices fell 0.6% between February 2023 and March 2023 and rose 4.8% annually taking the average property value to £214,174
The regional data for England indicates that:
    • No region saw a monthly price rise. The South East experienced the smallest monthly fall with a movement of -0.4%
    • the West Midlands saw the most significant monthly price fall, with a movement of –4.0%
    • the South West experienced the greatest annual price rise, up by 5.4%
    • London saw the lowest annual price growth, with an increase of 1.5%
