Five types of property available in city of Singapore
Singapore is a bright and beautiful city full of many great opportunities. Therefore, it is no wonder that so many people move to the city every year. With a growing population in the city, many property developers have worked hard to provide tenants with different housing options in and around the city.
If you are considering moving to Singapore but are unsure as to what type of property you should go for, here are 5 types of properties available in Singapore that you should consider:
1. Public HDB
The first type of property that is widely available in Singapore is public Housing and Development Board (HDB) flats. In Singapore HDB flats are provided to working class citizens across the city and come in a variety of sizes depending on the amount of people who are going to live there. These public flats are relatively low priced for citizens, as some of the costs involved with the flats are subsidized and regulated by the government of Singapore. Public HDB flats are extremely popular across the city as they make it easier and cheaper for more citizens to live and work in Singapore. It is believed that more than 80% of the population of Singapore live in HDB flats, with almost 90% of those people owning their own unit.
2. Apartments
Seeing as the city is quite small and highly populated, many people who do not live in HDB flats in Singapore live in apartments. Apartments are a great way of utilising space in such a tightly packed city, as the building consists of many apartments being placed on top of one another. Just like HDB flats, apartments in Singapore come in a variety of different sizes and come with a number of different bedrooms, depending on how many people plan on living there. Apartments have become much more popular on the property market in Singapore in recent years and are a great option if you are looking to rent instead of buy when you first move to the city.
3. Condominiums
Condominiums, otherwise known as a condo, is another type of property that is extremely popular across the city of Singapore. Condos consist of a number of individual units within one relatively larger building and are a popular option of housing for people of a younger generation. Condos are typically more high-end and luxurious than apartments are, as they usually come with higher security systems and have a number of additional features that apartments do not. These additional features could include luxury interiors, indoor car parking, swimming pools and even an indoor gym. Again, it is more common to rent rather than buy this type of property in Singapore.
4. Terrace Houses
If you are moving to Singapore and are looking for a property that is slightly bigger than an apartment or a condo, then a terrace house may be a good option for you. Terrace houses are another popular housing option in Singapore, as they do not take up a lot of space. A terrace house, also known as a detached house, is property that is placed directly beside another identical house. Terrace houses share one common wall with the adjoining house, meaning the layouts of the houses mirror each other. This type of property is typically suited to families or groups of people who wish to live together, as they are typically larger than the other properties that have previously been mentioned. As well as offering a lot of space, terrace houses sometimes come with a garden or small lawn and a space for you to park your car.
5. Town house
Another popular type of property that is available in the city of Singapore is a town house. This type of property is a hybrid of a condominium and a terrace house, as they consist of one property being placed on top of another. Not only do town houses save a lot of room in the city and mean that more people can be housed, but they are also comfortable and spacious to live in. Although town houses are place on top of one another, each town house is a single self-contained unit and is completely separate to the other. Both of the houses have their own entrance, but if you live in this type of property you may have to share the garden and car parking space with your neighbour. Town house are popular among all ages in Singapore and come with a great sense of community.
As you can see from this guide, there are a number of different properties in Singapore that are available for you to rent or buys. Having this many great property options in one city means you will not be stuck when it comes to finding somewhere to live.
