Doug Crawford, CEO of My Home Move, comments on today’s HMRC Property Transactions for June
“It is disappointing to see the number of property transactions fall 3.3% in June. However, this is the first month this year that the number of transactions has dipped below 100,000 (to 96,910), so it’s certainly not all bad news. No doubt the monthly falls we have seen for the last two months are a result of the uncertainty surrounding the snap general election on 8th June.
“The hope for the housing market is that we will now have a period of relative stability, providing confidence to those who have held off from moving homes. The summer is traditionally a time of boom for the market as people look to be in their new homes before the start of the next school year, so this should help the numbers move upwards rather than down. With the result of the election now firmly set and the government in recess, the housing market should see a summer bounce.”
