Search Acumen comments on UK Prime Minister’s speech on tackling the housing crisis

“For decades, the UK has failed to deliver enough homes to cater to the soaring demand from our growing population. Our own research has found that if the current trajectory continues, our new homes shortfall will reach more than one million by 2022.

“Fixing our chronic housing crisis will take more than financial reform. The property industry as a whole must act intelligently, harnessing technology to ensure construction is carried out where homes are most needed – not simply where land is cheapest. Big data, for example, will allow us to create more efficient site coherency and improve the identification of brownfield sites for development.

“As Mrs May notes, the importance of building communities with smart, intuitive processes must not be overlooked.”
