GDPR Academy launches comprehensive online GDPR and Cyber Security course

The GDPR Academy today announced its e-Learning programme for legal firms to prepare for the new GDPR regulations which come into effect on 25th May 2018. GDPR regulates the holding of personal data and includes significant new obligations for practices.

Training for GDPR

Training is an essential element for a practice to be compliant with GDPR. Well-trained personnel are less likely to make mistakes and cause a breach of personal data. e-Learning is the perfect way for managers to ensure all staff obtain the training they require in convenient bite size chunks.

The GDPR Academy provides up to date information about GDPR. GDPR Academy courses combine video, animations, infographics and downloadable technical documents combined with multiple choice quizzes to ensure a topic has been successfully learned.

Practices need to identify that all personal data that they hold in relation to staff, clients, prospects and suppliers is not only secure but that it is GDPR compliant. All firms must demonstrate that they have a data protection policy, including a data protection breach policy as a breach must be notified to the ICO within 72 hours of occurrence.

Cyber protection

Cyber security is an integral part of protection against a data breach. Protection against cybercrime is as much based on the human element as it is on technological solutions. A firm’s defences are only as strong as the weakest element and a junior person clicking on a malware link can infect the whole firm’s system and leave it vulnerable to a cyber hack. Training is of the utmost importance, and by taking the GDPR Academy’s e-Learning course a firm’s training can be continually monitored, thus affording the firm a measure of accountable protection against the consequences of any breach.

GDPR readiness will bring benefits to your firm

Good governance aids good practice and firms that are prepared for GDPR and best protected against cyber threats by demonstrating their compliance with policies, training and management will use this governance to run their firms more smoothly and take advantage of the new regulations. Early compliance with GDPR positions firms to win business where an incumbent supplier has failed to embrace the new regulations.

How it works:

The GDPR Academy e-Learning website is for all in business and administration.  It provides a comprehensive course with learning modules, videos, notes and structured multiple-choice questions to enable a person’s first GDPR qualification.

After entering via interest/expertise level, a user is guided through the Course, starting with the first Cyber Security Lesson.

All lessons contain an explanatory video, text guide, summary animation and information sheets (PDFs) and schematics where appropriate.  It is best to allow 15-20 minutes per Lesson, plus 5 minutes for revision, before accessing the multiple-choice quiz.  A user needs to pass this with a 70% mark before moving on to the next lesson. The questions vary in size and difficulty.

Content on the GDPR Academy website will be updated continuously during the lead up to GDPR and afterwards to ensure total compliance and maximum protection against cyber threats through staff training.
